PRE-READING
ON ZOOM
SAT JUN 08
2:00 PM
DAVID HODGES’
zoom room
“drop-in” is OK
Producer David Hodges will host a casual Zoom conversation about the script, the casting plan, and the performance schedule for all interested candidates.
Attendance will be light since the opportunity to have a Reading at the Philadelphia Dramatists Center was only recently scheduled.
Familiarity with the script is preferred but not essential. Actors wishing to be considered for a role will be given a chance to read with other actors equally new to the script.
LIVE READING
AT pdc
MON JUN 10
7:00 PM
PEN & PENCIL CLUB
LATIMER STREET
PHILADELPHIA
A live in-person reading of the entire script will take place at the regular meeting of the Philadelphia Dramatists Center, at the Pen & Pencil Club in Center City. The reading will be recorded on Zoom and will be attended both in person and remotely by PDC members.
Actors unable to make the reading date on such short notice will be given other opportunities to read for the parts, but participation at the first reading will be advantageous for anyone who can manage to attend.
pHILLY FRINGE SHOWS
THU SEP 05-SUN SEP 29
PRIESTLEY CHAPEL
FIRST UNITARIAN CHURCH
21ST & CHESTNUT STS
Shows will be performed the first two days of the Fringe Festival (Press Previews), followed by a break during which the producers will market the show based on its early brief run.
The show will re-open for two long weekend runs, Thursday through Sunday, the last two weeks of the show all the way to the final performance at 5pm on SUN SEP 29.
The show runs just under 60 minutes and will be performed twice every performance date with the same or with different cast members.

The Confessor
Mature male, older than the penitent
The Confessor is a respected Catholic priest of considerable experience, well-known to his parishioners and popular. He has engaged in many inappropriate relationships with male youth in his parish, including altar boys and choir boys, only one of whom is mentioned in the script.
The
penitent
Mature male, younger than the confessor
The Penitent is a member of a large Catholic family from the Confessor’s parish and the brother of one of the Confessor’s young victims. He seeks to confront the priest, extract a confession from him, and if satisfied with the priest’s contrition, forgive him.
The Understudy
will play confessor and penitent
The understudy will learn both roles and will be guaranteed dates for playing each part. In addition, he will, of course, perform the ordinary service of being available to substitute for the other cast members in emergencies. All three are primary cast members.

OUR PERFORMANCE SPACE
The Joseph Priestly Chapel, First Unitarian Church of Philadelphia, 2125 Chestnut Street.
